Esplande Police Court (Code: 117) – Mounted Photo Print

$ 46$ 232

The only police court used to be in Fort, just off Bora Bazar Street. The court also lent its name to the street, which came to be known as Police Court Lane.  As this court, which was occupied for many years by the courts of the Senior and third magistrates, became old and unsuitable; a new Gothic-style sandstone building was constructed in 1888. This stands for what is today’s Mahapalika Marg and called the Esplanade Police Court.  The court is situated right next to other heritage buildings like the BMC Headquarters and St Xavier’s College.
