$ 93$ 160

In the Fort area was a historical club founded as far back as 1845, by the members of the Indian Navy. A stone’s throw away from the dock and the harbour, it was situated in Rampart Row, West, which has sometimes been called Ropewalk. Since the Club was only open to officers of the Indian and Royal Navy, civilians could go not go beyond the tearoom, which housed the one proud trophy the Club possessed. This was a bell brought as a prize by one of the warships of the Indian Navy from the first Burmese War.
