$ 46$ 232

This view is of fenced public space of Oval Maidan with a number of buildings in the distance. Pictured on the left is the Bombay High Court, an ornate building with its distinctive central tower and arched windows. Designed by General J.A. Fuller, the Bombay High Court was completed in 1878.  To the right is the Rajabai Clock Tower and Bombay University campus buildings, both designed by British Architect Sir Gilbert Scott. Also visible in the foreground is the Government Secretariat building designed by Colonel H St. Clair Wilkins and completed 1874.

Buildings were built majestically and designed in the Victorian Gothic traditional style fronting, what was in the 1860s, the western sea front of Bombay, across the Esplanade.
