Completed in 1905, the glory of this Cathedral is still mostly intact. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Bombay as well as the headquarters of the Archdiocese of Bombay. The ceiling and walls are covered with frescoes and geometrical designs painted by the Jesuit lay-brother A. Moscheni of Bergamo.

The Bombay Tramway Company’s office and stables were set up in 1873, giving the Company the licence to run tramways with one or two horses. But as India and the industry developed, horse-drawn trams couldn’t keep up. Eventually the service was discontinued; the last horse-drawn tramcars rode on 1st August 1905, making way for electric trams. The electric tramcar services were inaugurated by Vallabhdas Thakersey, the Chairman of the Municipality in May 1907.
